The purpose of using ultrasound therapy

Ultrasound is a mechanical energy consisting of high-frequency vibrations applied through an ultrasonic applicator. These vibrations pass through the body tissue and are gradually absorbed and transformed into heat. The resulting temperature rise causes biological changes in the tissue to reduce pain, relax muscle spasm and reduce joint contractures.

Ultrasound (US) therapy involves the therapeutic application of sound waves with a frequency of 16 KHz and more flashes per second, which belong to the area of ultrasound. Sound waves represent periodic longitudinal vibrations of the medium, ie. periodic thickening and dilution of molecules of solid, liquid and gaseous medium, through which they spread.

Primary physical activity of ultrasound:

  • mechanical action,
  • thermal operation,
  • physicochemical action.

Secondary, physiological, action:

  • vasodilation type active hyperemia,
  • analgesic action,
  • spasmolytic action,
  • antiphlogistic action,
  • enhancing the resorption of extravasates and metabolites.

The most commonly used is a labile method of application in which the projector head is very easily moved in circular motions on the skin, with full contact of the membrane of the ultrasound head with the skin, which is achieved by pre-coating the skin with a contact medium. Application time is 3 to 5 minutes per field.

Indications:
Ultrasound is indicated for conditions that benefit from the application of deep heat: pain reduction, muscle spasm and joint contractures. The goal of therapeutic ultrasound in the treatment of selected medical conditions with chronic and sub-chronic conditions such as bursitis / capsulitis, epicondylitis, ligament stretching, tendinitis, scar healing and muscle stretching is to reduce pain.fizio aktiv nonius 01.

Indications:

  • M. Bechterew
  • PAHS calcificans
  • soft tissue injuries (distortions, distensions, ruptures, contusions)
  • Contractura Dupuytreni
  • degenerative rheumatism
  • neuralgia, causalgia
  • amputation neuromas,
  • stimulation of osteogenesis
  • M.Sudeck
  • dermatoses (ulcerations, wounds, eczema)

Main contraindications:

  • thrombophlebitis (danger of embolism)
  • blood vessels in poor condition (risk of rupture)
  • acute infections (danger of bacterial growth)
  • acute inflammation
  • malignant diseases

COMBINED THERAPY
Combination therapy is a combined application of ultrasound and electrical stimulation. In combination therapy, the metal surface of the ultrasound head becomes the negative electrode of electrical stimulation, while the cable with the red connector remains the positive electrode of electrical stimulation. Combination therapy is available in all current forms, but limited to channel 2.
Combination therapy is typically used to reduce muscle spasm.
