Coxarthrosis is a degenerative and most common progressive disease of the hip joint. Degenerative changes first appear on the articular cartilage, and then they affect the joints and the bones. The main problem of this disease is causing constant pain in the hip area, of varying intensity.
It most often appears in later life, somewhat more often in women, and the basic symptom is pain in the area of one or both hips when walking. The pain begins in the groin and on the outside of the thigh, and can spread along the upper leg to the knee or even to the foot. The pain is accompanied by stiffness of the leg when starting and during the first few steps, inability to bend and put on shoes, slightly bent body forward. Pain can also occur during the night. The intensity of the pain depends on the position of the body, it is stronger when getting up and sitting down. The intensity of pain depends, above all, on the type and severity of the change in the hip joint itself, because the joint capsule is supplied with numerous nerve endings, and in pathological changes the capsule is difficult to stretch during joint movements and causes pain. If the diagnosis is not made in time and the treatment is not started, muscle atrophy and shortening of the leg are possible. If this process continues, it leads to a deformity of the femur, which leads doctors to the only way to cure – surgery.
The exact cause of this disease is still unknown, but it is assumed that a combination of a number of causes is necessary – congenital hip dislocations, congenital shortening of one leg, improper gait, aging, long-term hard physical work, forced body position … Over time, there is a decrease the thickness of the cartilage located between the two bones, the femur and the pelvis, whose basic task is the amortization of movement and reduced friction between the bones. When the cartilage thins, the amortization of the movement decreases and the movements become difficult and painful.
The diagnosis is made on the basis of the symptoms that the patient states, as well as on the basis of a medical examination and X-ray of the hip joint. X-rays are authoritative for making a diagnosis, but they are often not correlated with the changes seen on the image and the strength and severity of the symptoms that the patient feels. Only in very rare situations, additional diagnostics, CT or magnetic resonance imaging are needed.
One of the main methods of preventing coxarthrosis is regulating body weight. Also, exercises significantly help to keep the hips healthy and mobile for a long time. They strengthen the muscles, their tendons and ligaments around the joints and this prevents the wear of the cartilage in the joint itself.
Treatment consists of reducing pain and muscle spasm, improving function, preventing contractures and training for daily activities. Physical therapy aims to reduce pain, joint stiffness, muscle spasm, as well as strengthen muscles and surrounding tissues to strengthen the joint. SALUS-TALENT treatment has proven to be extremely successful in relieving symptoms and greatly improving the condition of people suffering from coxarthrosis. In addition to physical procedures, chiropractic, manual mobilization of the soft tissue of the lumbar region, unblocking of apophyseal joints play an important role …
Treatment can be:
drugs – analgesics, antirheumatics, antiphlogistics, myotonolytics, physical therapy (electrotherapy mainly analgesic), kinesitherapy (exercises to relieve and then strengthen the muscles of the joint stabilizer), hydrotherapy (allows movements in the joint with reduced load),
Chiropractic helps increase mobility. If the joint is “out of place”, the chiropractor will return to the correct position. Very often, problems in the lumbar part also affect the hips, so that sometimes a chiropractic procedure is necessary on the spine itself.
Lifestyle change, weight reduction, rest, conservative therapy, drugs to reduce inflammation and pain given in the hip (intra-articular), hip arthroscopy, surgical treatment.
LET YOUR CHOICE FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEM BE WITH US! ACCURATE DIAGNOSIS AND EFFECTIVE THERAPY ARE THE ONLY WAY TO SOLVING THE PROBLEM, THE WAY WE ARE GUIDED TO. WE USE MODERN METHODS OF PHYSICAL THERAPY, MODERN APPARATUS LIKE SALUS-TALENT, INDIBA-ACTIVE CELL AND WE HAVE EXPERIENCED AND EDUCATED PHYSIOTHERAPISTS WHO WILL CHOOSE THE RIGHT KINESIGA THERAPY.
Electromagnet of high magnetic induction which has an excellent analgesic effect on joints, dispersion effect on swelling, so it has proven to be extremely effective in problems of pain in the spine, knees, hips such as spondylosis, dysarthrosis, lumbago, lumbosciatica, coxarthrosis, gonarthrosis … This magnet is the first electromagnet that is individually dosed according to the patient’s feeling, so that unlike standard magnets, the patient can feel from mild vibrations to very strong muscle contractions with the therapy on this magnet. The analgesic effect, ie the effect of reducing pain, is felt very quickly, sometimes even after the first treatment.
INDIBA-ACTIVE CELL (http://www.fizioaktiv.co.rs/index.php/nasi-aparati/indiba-proionik-sistem)
This is an extremely pleasant therapy for the patient. It is done in the form of a massage while the free electrode is in the therapist’s hand. It has the best effect on soft tissues such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, … It has been shown to reduce muscle spasm, ie. muscle relaxation, elimination of swelling, and has the fastest analgesic effect so that the pain stops during the first treatment.
